Job description

Job responsibilities

MFTs Digital Team

Joining the digital service puts you at the heart of the Trusts digital enablement journey. The implementation of the Hive Electronic Patients Record (EPR), powered by EPIC, in September 2022, which was the biggest of its kind in the UK at that time, was the first step in realising the MFT vision of a Digital First organisation and significantly increases the Trusts capability to unleash the power of data, through its ability to capture high quality/volume acute clinical and non-clinical services data and to exploit this data to catalyse digital transformation and support improved patient care.

In parallel we have an ambitious digital strategy, which builds on Hive EPR as an engine for transformation for MFT, to deliver scalable, robust, and reliable digital infrastructure, applications, and services, to support other major programmes. This includes the delivery of the Single Hospital Service which was achieved when North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) formally joined MFT in April 2021. As well as supporting national projects, including the New Hospitals Programme, with the redevelopment of the NMGH which is defining the digital approach to a new generation of hospitals. Further, we are developing our governance approach to ensure the Trust makes best safe use of advances such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Robotic Process Automation across all our services. This is an incredibly exciting time to join our digital team as we continue to address further expansion in the complexity and volume of technological demand.

The digital team has a pivotal role in supporting MFT to deliver clinically led, operationally delivered, digitally-enabled services. Our staff work across key functions including: strategy, governance and assurance, portfolio services including demand and delivery, information and patient services, and teams supporting our Hive EPR and all connected applications and other digital systems, technology architecture, infrastructure, and operational services. We are also supported by a diverse clinical informatics team, ensuring our digital solutions are safe, efficient and patient focused. The clinical informatics team is made up consultants across the organisation and a dedicated Digital Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional Team, who work closely with the Chief Medical Informatics Officers.

As a member of the digital team you will directly support the organisation to deliver and improve clinical quality, patient and staff experience, operational effectiveness, and research. Were proud of the positive impact we make every day to the lives of our colleagues and our patients and were excited to offer you the opportunity to join our team.

Required skills and experience

Were looking for candidates with clinical or operational experience in the NHS. Youll be a talented communicator who can make complex issues easy to understand you might also have experience in analysing business and technical requirements or even training in Epic software, but whats essential is strong IT skills, an eye for detail and a sense of strategy.

Youll also need a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. A project management or relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred, but not essential.

To find out more about the key responsibilities and the specific skills and experience youll need, take a look at the Job Description & Person Specification attachments under the Supporting Documents heading. So that youre even more equipped to make an informed decision to apply to us, youll need to take time to read the Candidate Essentials Guidethat sits with the Job Description and Person Specification. This document provides you with details about the Trust, our benefits and outlines how we care for you as you care for others.
