Please note - this role is available to junior doctors currently working at RMCH/MCS, or are due to rotate into the Hospital in August/September 2024

Are you interested in developing your skills in medical leadership and learn how to initiate and maintain change and improvements within RMCH

Come and join us, as our Medical Directors Leadership Fellow (MDLF) at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. This post will ideally start in September 2024 for 12 months and is suitable for doctors working at ST3+ level.The role is designed to provide a junior doctor the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and to learn about the structure and management of a large NHS Children's Hospital. The MDLF will be able to provide the essential Junior Doctor's perspective on evolving projects within the hospital and help influence and drive change that works for both Junior Doctors and patients.

Main duties of the job

Engage with and represent Junior Doctors across all RMCH sites (ORC, NMGH, WTWA)

Work towards achieving the goal of the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital becoming the best training centre and for Junior Doctor experience within the North West

Act as a voice for RMCH/MCS Junior Doctors in organisational decision-making by attending meetings and contributing the perspectives of Junior Doctors.

Act as a Junior Doctor leader by representing RMCH/MCS at the MFT Junior Doctor Forum and at the RMCH/MCS Junior Doctor Committee

Personal development of leadership and change-management skills

Provide opportunity for MDLF to undertake post-graduate qualifications in Medical Leadership

Qualifications - Academic /Professional

Essential

  • Qualified Doctor or Dentist with full registration of the General Medical Council/ General Dental Council or equivalent
  • ST3 + or equivalent
  • At least 6 months NHS experience
  • Experience in paediatrics or paediatric subspecialty e.g. paeds anaesthesia/PED/Paeds surgery/CAMHS

Skills, Knowledge Requirements & Experience

Desirable

  • Experience leading change initiatives
  • A proven ability to deliver consistently on clinical effectiveness and patient safety
  • Experience of implementing change across departments, organisations, or systems
