Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dedicated and innovative Audiologist to join our Adult & Paediatric Audiology Team. The Audiology Service is based at North Manchester General Hospital, and in addition, delivers services across the community of North Manchester. We provide a range of services, including ENT support, AQP and Non-AQP Assessment and Rehabilitation including direct access imaging, Specialist Tinnitus assessment and rehabilitation, Balance assessment and rehabilitation, Baha, and full Ear-Care service. We are a Paediatric centre and offer a dedicated transition service.

You should hold the appropriate qualifications and have valid AHCS registration or are pre-registration state. For newly qualified Audiologists there will likely be a preceptorship period which will have Annex 21 arrangements applied, meaning a candidate will be paid at 75% of the band 5 role for the agreed preceptorship period.

As a department, we see many patients with complex hearing problems and much of the work is non-routine which will present an opportunity for you to develop specialist skills. To this end, the Trust is committed to supporting you with your personal career goals, and further training and development programmes are encouraged.

In addition, the department has close educational and research links to Manchester University, and you will be involved in the training and mentoring of students as we are a dedicated teaching department.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will provide an efficient and effective, high quality, evidence based diagnostic evaluation and rehabilitation for routine Audiology patients.
  • As an autonomous practitioner they will assess, diagnose, and treat patients on their own case load of routine patients.
  • They will participate in Continuing Professional Development, clinical audit and in service training.
  • Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of work including the management of patients in your care in accordance with Trust, National and Professional guidelines.
  • Work as a member of inter-disciplinary teams ensuring the accurate assessment and treatment of Audiology patients.
  • Maintain professional registration.
  • Recognise when medical history or test results require referral of patient to specialist Audiologist or Clinical lead.
  • Involvement in departmental UKAS accreditation process
