Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and hard working Rehabilitation Assistant to join our therapy service at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH).

Working under the direction of qualified therapists you will support children and young people with a range of injuries, illnesses and complex needs across a range of specialties to achieve their individualised goals using a wide range of therapeutic activities. This will include use of the hydrotherapy pool.

You will undertake treatment programmes with patients as delegated by a qualified health care professional and report back to them. Patients will be seen in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The successful candidate will be a confident communicator being able to adapt their communication style to children and young people with a variety of needs, including cognitive difficulties and be able to work well in a team.

Basic IT skills are essential for this role which involves some office-based duties as well as keeping electronic records and inputting information accurately into online databases.

You will be able to motivate and encourage children and young people with their therapy and have an empathetic nature.

Main duties of the job

Alongside the clinical support to the patients the post involves a significant amount of daily non clinical duties including cleaning equipment, organising servicing of equipment and administration duties. There will be occasions of cross cover supporting the wider teams for planned and unplanned absence .

We will provide access to training and support with lifelong learning and annual appraisals.
