Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Chemotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist Team based mainly at Oxford Road Campus (there will be expectation to travel to Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington and North Manchester when required).

The successful candidate will be joining the established team and the role will involve leading and contributing to the education and training programme of the chemotherapy nursing staff across Manchester Foundation Trust.

The successful post holder will have a high level of autonomy in the management of their caseload and will need to be a skilled decision maker and able to prioritise their workload.

For this Band 7 post, we are keen to appoint a team orientated, highly motivated and experienced nurse, who has specialist knowledge in systemic anti-cancer treatment and oncology.

An exciting job opportunity has become available with the MLCO Community Palliative Care Team. We have a vacancy for a Band 7 clinical nurse specialist, this role is full time and will be based in the North Locality.

Main duties of the job

At MFT, we want to deliver education to our staff teams that is of the highest possible standard. The Chemotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist role will work closely with nurses that administer chemotherapy across the Trust. They will ensure that these nurses receive comprehensive education and are highly competent in administrating chemotherapy and supporting patients. The role requires someone that is an excellent communicator and is experienced in working with and educating clinical teams.

MFT will be moving ahead with the implementation of the UKONS SACT Passport during 2024 and the Chemotherapy CNS will be pivotal in the implementation of this package, working closely with managers and nurses to ensure a smooth transition across the Trust.

The Chemotherapy CNS role will sit within the Corporate Cancer Services team and as such the suitable candidate will need to be able to work at a strategic level and should have an appreciation of the future development possibilities for chemotherapy services. The role will be closely supported by the Macmillan Deputy Lead Cancer Nurse and Macmillan Head of Nursing for Cancer Services with regard to strategic aims and goals.

This role is for someone that wants an exciting challenge and understands what is possible in a Corporate Chemotherapy CNS role.

Due to the nature of MFT and the delivery of both paediatric and adult chemotherapy, applications are very much welcomed from nurses with either an adult or paediatric background.
