Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Respiratory Physiologist tojoin the team in the North West Ventilation Service, Wythenshawe Hospital. This role is for a 12-month maternity leave secondment.
The North West Ventilation Service is a tertiary referral centre for long-term non-invasive/invasive ventilation and cough augmentation therapy, with approximately 1700 patients under our service. A well established multi-disciplinary team is responsible for managing these patients across the inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The successful candidate will work alongside the Specialist team of Nurses, Physiotherapists, Medical Consultants and Occupational Therapists.
Main duties of the job
The position will involve:
Performing, analysing and reporting on in-patient and outpatient sleep studies (including on NIV/CPAP).
Initiating treatment with CPAP and Bi-Level Non-Invasive Ventilation. and delivering teaching and training to patients and carers on the use of these devices.
Teaching, training and mentoring of students and junior staff.
This post will predominantly be based within the inpatient and outpatient settings on the North West Ventilation Unit,but there may be a requirement to deliver some aspects of care within the community. Direct support will be provided from the Lead Physiotherapists and Lead Nurse for the service, alongside other members of the MDT. Profession specific supervision is available from the Wythenshawe Lung-Function department and WTWA Sleep Service.
