Job summary

Are you looking to work in a large dynamic teaching hospital based in an exciting city with good transport links to the surrounding areas?

We are looking for an enthusiastic forward thinking HCPC registered Physiotherapist to join our multi- professional medical therapy team on an exciting medical rotation based at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The rotations include acute medical specialities such as renal, acute, emergency and older person's medicine. It now includes a Frailty Same Day Emergency Care Unit which is an exciting new addition to our service. As an integral member of the team, you will have an opportunity to work closely with the Frailty team and develop the therapy provision. This post provides opportunities to consolidate clinical skills and involvement in management of the wider team.

Main duties of the job

The medical therapy team consists of highly specialist Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists supporting a wide skill mix of clinicians within the acute setting. We promote close MDT working allowing a holistic approach to patient care, joint therapy working & service developments.

The successful candidate should have experience being able to demonstrate effective assessment, treatment and discharge planning knowledge working across a variety of clinical areas. They should demonstrate the practical skills in progressing patients to achieve their individual goals with complex needs and multiple pathologies.

Educational / Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised BSC Honours degree in physiotherapy or equivalent
  • State registration via Health and Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate training including attendance at relevant specialist courses

Desirable

  • Involvement in special interest group
  • Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Previous postgraduate clinical experience as a junior in a broad rotational post
  • Specialist knowledge of physiotherapy assessment and treatment technique
  • Working knowledge of local and national policies and procedures e.g. Manual Handling, Chartered Society of Physiotherapists/Health and Care Professions Council Code of Conduct/Ethics, Health and Safety, Infection Control, CPR, Equality and Diversity
