Job summary

The Paediatric Psychosocial Service (PPS), part of Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust (MFT) CAMHS which sits within the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital; is currently looking to recruit a Clinical Psychologist for maternity leave.

This is a brilliant opportunity for dedicated mental healthcare professionals to promote and improve the mental health and well-being of children and young people with physical health conditions and those who care for them.

We provide inpatient and outpatient support to patients with a wide range of physical health conditions on a local, regional, national and international basis. Working for the Paediatric Psychosocial Service, you'll work with children and young people aged up to 18 years and their families who present with a wide range of complex emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with physical health conditions.

You'll be supported to manage a defined caseload and have the responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and young people. Roles also include consultation and liaison with medical teams.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will primarily work with referrals from the renal and urology services, although there may be times when case work relates to different specialties. This includes inpatient and outpatient referrals, and multidisciplinary clinic work.

The role involves a flexible approach to working, to ensure psychological aspects can be addressed and supported within a time pressured medical environment. Regular clinical supervision, peer supervision groups and specific therapy skills supervision are available.

Essential

  • You must be registered/accredited with a professional body. e.g. NMC, UKCP, HCPC, BACP
  • You must have a recognised qualification. Recognised qualifications are: Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or equivalent) as accredited by the BPS. Health Psychology Registered Nursing: RMN/RSCN/RNMH Social Work (CQSW/DipSW) Occupational Therapy

Desirable

  • Pre-qualification training or experience with children and adolescents / adults with health conditions.
