The post

Applications are invited for the post of Specialty doctor registrar grade in urology. The successful candidate with join the urology team that provides urological services across multiple sites at the Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT).

This post is a permanent position, available with immediate effect. Within MFT, urology services are currently spread across three inpatient sites - Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), Wythenshawe Hospital (WY) and North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH). Urological activity is also undertaken at Withington Hospital, Trafford General Hospital and Altrincham Hospital. From January 2024 North Manchester General Hospital will cease to become an inpatient site for urology but will continue to provide outpatient and day-case services. Patients that require in-patient care after January 2024 will have this provided at either Manchester Royal Infirmary or Wythenshawe Hospital.

The successful candidate will have sessions at NMGH, but the timetable will also have the flexibility of delivering activity at the other sites according to the demands of the service and the candidates profession developmental objectives.

Main duties of the job

The duties of the candidate will include management of acute referrals to the urology department, in-patient care, out-patient clinics, theatres, flexible cystoscopies, MDT and on-call. Other activities can be timetabled according to the skill set of the candidate and the needs of the service. All junior doctors including the successful candidate will be supervised and supported according to their level of experience and skills.
