Job summary
The Directorate of Respiratory Medicine at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant Allergist (full-time, 10PAs) to its growing Allergy Centre.
Main duties of the job
The Allergy Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital is a regional tertiary centre, which is pivotal in driving a regional network across the North West. It is led by Dr Susana Marinho, and supported by Prof Angela Simpson, Dr Marina Tsoumani, Dr Iason Thomas, Dr Samia Azmi, three specialist allergy nurses, a dedicated allergy dietitian and a dedicated allergy clinical psychologist, four staff nurses, three health care assistants, a large administrative team and a concierge/caretaker. The service has developed to become the second largest in the country, recognised as a centre of excellence.
The Allergy Centre provides comprehensive allergy care for adults, offering a holistic approach to the diagnosis and management of the full spectrum of allergic disorders. It also has close links with the Paediatrics Service, providing the same range of comprehensive allergy care to children. The service moved into purposefully refurbished facilities in 2017, which have significantly increased the ability of the service to deliver both clinical and research services. The Allergy Centre is an integrated clinical and research unit with an active research programme, ensuring that patients have access to the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases.
