THE POST

TITLE : SPECIALITY DOCTOR IN ORAL MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY

LOCATION : WYTHENSHAWE HOSPITAL

CONTRACT 12 MONTHS FIXED TERM

CONTRACTED HOURS : FULL TIME

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

The clinical service unit of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated Specialty Doctor to join our team.

This post provides a great opportunity to gain significant experience in one of the largest Tertiary referral Centre of Excellence in the UK.

The successful candidate will be working alongside 3 consultants, (& I vacant post) 1 Associate Specialist, 1 specialist trainee,1 staff grades, 2 Specialty Doctor and 5 Dental Core Trainees.

Main duties of the job

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The post holder will be required to work in outpatient clinics, operating sessions under LA in the department, operating sessions under GA in the operating theatre (supported subject to level of experience and confidence as assessed by consultant in charge and occasionally see referrals from other departments on the ward according to the needs of the department.

Clinical responsibility will be to the Consultants. The post holder's duties will time-tabled to support all Consultants, to whom the post holder will be responsible. Supportive training will be available in all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Experience/Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience at Senior House Officer level within Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Desirable

  • A specific interest in facial trauma, membership of relevant organisations
  • Experience of having worked at middle grade level in an Acute Oral & Maxillofacial setting.
  • ATLS and ALS certified

Training

  • 3 Years in a recognised training post (DF, DCT1, DCT2 etc).
