We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative people to work with us as Rehabilitation assistants in our inpatient therapy teams based at Trafford General Hospital.
Rehabilitation Assistants support occupational therapists (OT), physiotherapists (PT) and Speech and Language Therapists (SALT) in their role and work under their supervision. You will be responsible for delivering therapy interventions across the in-patient wards based at Trafford Hospital, while being supported by robust supervision and training. You will work closely with the qualified therapy team based in the hospital to assist with assessment and treatment interventions for a varied caseload.
Main duties of the job
We have vacancies based within our teams that support older people (37.5hrs) and in our stroke team (22.5hrs), therefore experience, or a desire to work with this population would be beneficial. You will have the opportunity to express a preference if you have one at interview.
The post holder will be supported to develop the skills to work effectively in this role using a competency-based approach.
The successful candidate will be a confident communicator being able to adapt their communication style to patients with a variety of needs, including cognitive difficulties and be able to work well in a team. Basic IT skills are essential as this role does involve some office-based duties as well as keeping electronic records. An understanding of the role of OT/PT/ SALT would be beneficial.
You will be responsible for following treatment plans to deliver exercise programmes, mobility, personal and domestic activities of daily living practice and speech and language guidelines/ interventions. There is a requirement to undertake moving and handling of patients on a regular basis. The role involves supporting some community activities such as environmental and home assessments visits.
Alongside the clinical interventions, there is responsibility for administration duties - ordering equipment, recording statistics and maintaining stock items.
The post involve participation in a 7-day working rota and being a car owner/driver is essential to meet the requirements of the role.
