An opportunity has arisen to support our patients, visitors and staff within Manchester University NHS Trust.
We have conducted an Equality Impact Assessment and assessed the needs of our patients and there is a requirement to continue to provide for the religious needs primarily of our Muslim patients together with generic support. Please note: We are recruiting for two Muslim chaplaincy roles: a Jumuah Imam (5 hours) and a more general Muslim Chaplain (7.5hrs).
Main duties of the job
The post holders will work within the Trust wide Chaplaincy Service and take responsibility for the delivery and provision of highly skilled, compassionate pastoral, spiritual or religious support for patients, carers and staff across the organisation for their own specific faith. The post holder will be authorised and accredited to practice as a world religion or belief leader and provide effective chaplaincy which demonstrates the values and behaviours identified within the Trusts framework and act as a role model for all staff within the managed Hospital sites. The post holder will support the Chaplaincy Manager to provide an efficient and effective spiritual care service across the Trust, enhancing the experience of both patients and staff in the delivery of spiritual and religious care. The post holder will work autonomously within their own religion/faith group within the Chaplaincy role and have freedom top act and decide when it is necessary to refer to the Chaplaincy Manager.

Essential
- Recognized leader in good standing within the Muslim faith community.
- Accredited training/qualification (Undergraduate degree level in theology, pastoral care or other relevant discipline - or working towards or equivalent experience)
- Accreditation/licensing by an appropriate authority to practice as a Muslim chaplain/pastoral care worker.
- Imam skills to be able to lead Jumuah (for the Jumuah role)
Desirable
- Post graduate training in Chaplaincy or equivalent A certificate in counselling or other relevant specialist training
- A certificate in counselling or other relevant specialist training
Knowledge and experience
