Job summary
An Exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join the CT Biopsy team. You will need to be flexible, a team player and able to demonstrate a commitment to professional development and evidence based practice
You will be supporting a new 5 day a week biopsy service and will be responsible for assisting in CT and Ultrasound Biopsies. You will manage a team of nurses and healthcare support workers as part of your team ensuring patients are experiencing a high standard of care. You will also be part of the development of the service during expansion.
You may also be asked to help the wider lung cancer team
Main duties of the job
CLINICAL
Assess, plan, prioritise, implement and evaluate nursing interventions
Promote and develop the specialist advisory and supportive role of a nurse specialist in CT Biopsy
Undertaken comprehensive healthcare needs of patients, changing treatment plan as necessary
Refers to and accepts referrals from other disciplines within scope of competence
Provide psychological support for individuals and carers, identifying and involving the appropriate multi-disciplinary services
Advice and support patients to manage their symptoms
Provide specialist care, knowledge and expertise
Provide highly specialist advice on the phone
To take a lead role in the organisation and management of multi-professional patient care
Create and maintain effective communication with multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
Plan systems of nursing activity, which satisfy agreed standards at Local, Trust, Regional or National levels
Take a lead role in meetings at which board professional and service issues are discussed
MANAGERIAL
Promote effective leadership
Demonstrate supervisory skills for the area
Utilise Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines,
Manage effective multi-disciplinary teamwork
Act as a change agent and recognise service needs
Deal personally with patients, relatives or visitors who make a complaint in line with Trust policy
To be responsible for managing risk in your area of control
Take a lead in retention and recruitment of staff relevant to the area
