Job summary
The DSDProduction Manager is responsible for providing and sustaining a safe, efficient sterile supply service to all DSD customers. The Production Management Team are the link between the Operational Manager and the Supervisory Team.
The post holder has responsibilities for the management and organisation of resources, supervision, equipment and productivity within the DSD operational areas, with support from Supervisors and their teams, ensuring that all work complies with the Trust's and Department's policies and procedures and quality systems and standards, including ISO 13485:2016 and the UK MDR 2002.
The post holder will ensure that a high-quality service is provided throughout the Trust.
The post holder will be a key member of the DSD Management team contributing to the efficient running of the department and working alongside another Production Manager, Quality Manager and Training Manager.
Main duties of the job
The post holder ensures that an efficient & effective sterile supply service is provided by the DSD. Monitoring the service to ensure that high standards are maintained, and technical requirements are achieved in accordance with strategic requirements. Supporting the Supervisory Team in the day-to-day management of the unit, to ensure the effective delivery of equipment to the users of the service daily. This will include dealing with enquiries and taking any necessary action to meet the requirements of the users of the service. Responding to customers/ services users enquiries and providing appropriate complex technical/scientific and sensitive advice according to departmental policies.
The post holder will ensure that the quality standards are achieved and maintained, thereby meeting the requirements of the department's quality system and policies, ensuring complete closure of all non-conformances in conjunction with the DSD Quality Manager. They are required to prepare a variety of production reports and proactive data collection for the DSD Management Team by specific deadlines.
They will supervise and performance manage the Supervisory Team.

- Educated to degree level and/or equivalent experience
- An employment history in Sterile Services, operating theatres with sterile services involvement, personnel/people management, infection control, (production/quality systems) or medical device manufacture (production/quality systems)
- People Management experience, minimum of two years of team of 5 or more
- Good knowledge and experience of quality systems and working in a regulated environment
- Experience in skills of auditing
- Previous experience with machinery which required validation, periodic testing, calibration and process documentation
- Experience with an environment where control of staff and processes is routinely applied
- Good working knowledge of the equipment within, and instrument types processed through a Sterile Services Department
