Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Perfusion department here at Wythenshawe hospital, Manchester.
This opportunity is ideal for a recently qualified perfusionist wanting to expand their perfusion skills and knowledge into new areas. We are looking for someone keen to learn and broaden their perfusion experience.
The cardiac surgery team here carries out all types of adult cardiac surgery including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve replacements and complex aortic repairs.
Wythenshawe is also a heart and lung transplant centre, which also leads to the care of heart failure patients on mechanical support devices such as ECMO, VAD, BIVAD and implantable Heartmate.
We are also a VV Respiratory ECMO centre and carry out retrievals from outlying hospitals.
It is these extra specialities that make Wythenshawe an interesting and exciting place for perfusionists.
No experience in transplant, ECMO or VAD's as full training in these speciality areas will be given by a supportive team.
The post is ideal for someone who has just qualified or who has qualified in the last few years.

Main duties of the job
These duties include the set up and running of the heart lung machine for all types of adult cardiac surgery.
The set up and running of ECMO and VAD circuits for the support of heart failure patients.
Perfusion for Heart and Lung Transplantation along with the operation of long term VAD devices such as Heartmate.
The use of IABP's and cell savers plus blood coagulation monitoring.
