Job summary
We are looking for an exceptional midwife leader who is innovative and committed to making a real difference to the midwifery workforce.
You will be an experienced midwife who has held previous leadership roles and possess a proven record of delivering improvement projects, have experience of change management and can demonstrate ongoing professional development.
Experience of managing workforce is desirable although applications will be considered from candidates who can demonstrate transferrable knowledge and skill required for this post. Flexibility to work across the 3 hospital sites of Oxford Road, Wythenshawe and North Manchester is required.
You will act as an expert on recruitment and best practice, supporting the Lead Midwife for Practice Development and Education to deliver on the programmes of work related to midwifery workforce, recruitment and retention. Working closely with midwifery teams and HR colleagues on workforce development, you will lead on projects to develop new roles, innovative ways of working, and programmes to support both local and international recruitment and retention of staff.
You will have the ability to interpret and analyse data and provide reports and papers, requiring basic IT skills in Word and Excel as a minimum. Delivering reports is a significant part of this role and you will therefore need to be articulate and confident to deliver presentations to a diverse group of staff.

- First Level NMC registration
- Evidence of relevant study and continuing professional development
- Detailed knowledge of the NHS and current opportunities and challenges.
- Significant operational management experience at Ward Manager level or above
- Experience in clinical audit and benchmarking.
- Evidence of using service improvement methodology in the delivery of change within services.
Desirable
- Management/Leadership qualification Graduate in health related subject Relevant Degree or working towards
