Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Clinical Trials Coordinator to join the Vaccine research team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Depending on experience we may also offer this post as a Band 5 - 6 Developmental role. If so, the post-holder will join the team at Band 5 AfC salary (Clinical Trials Coordinator) and progress to Band 6 AfC salary (Senior Clinical Trials Coordinator) upon successfully completing the competency assessment criteria checklist for the Band 6 role over the first 6 months in post.
This post will support our vaccine research portfolio, including rapid study set up, clinic coordination for our research clinics, and line management of the non-clinical team. Some evening and weekend work may be required to support our research clinics.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to ensure that comprehensive, high quality and efficient administrative processes are in place for setting up studies, organising necessary approvals, data management, ensuring full compliance with the regulatory framework; including financial management of study set-up costs and income recovery in conjunction with the R&I finance team.
The post holder will assist the Clinical Trials Manager to ensure and supervise the day-to day activities of administrative staff. This post will also involve line management and performance management, as well as co-ordinating and developing training and presentations ensuring the objectives of the Research & Innovation Division and Trust are reflected.
This post requires excellent interpersonal, IT and organisational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as having the confidence to work independently when required. Strong administrative and IT skills are essential. Also essential, is an understanding of medical terminology.
Applicants will have attained a degree in a science or health-related discipline, or a degree in another field with experience in clinical trials, or relevant experience.
The post holder will need to be able to work flexibly and independently as well as being a committed team worker, and also be willing to travel to other sites in the Trust as required.
