We are looking for an experienced nurse to join our School Health Immunisation Team to deliver the National Immunisation Programme to all children across the city of Manchester.
You will be working directly with children on a daily basis and using a child centred and public health approach to improving children's health and tackle health inequalities by raising the level of immunisation uptake in school aged children.
The Immunisation Team is part of the Manchester School Health Service which has remodelled itself to incorporate School Nursing and Healthy Schools to fulfill the requirements of Manchester's fast moving public health agenda.
Recently restructured in line with the health needs of our city's children, we are a forward thinking, progressive and dynamic service that works citywide to improve the wellbeing outcomes of our children and their families.
Main duties of the job
You will need a strong interpersonal skills, be able to negotiate and communicate with a wide range of professionals from all levels in a confident manner.
You'll bring us your skills, experience and knowledge, but also a passion for promoting public health. That means working as part of a team and building trusting relationships with children, young people and their families. Flexible yet decisive, you'll be happy dealing with routine work, yet quick to identify and act on crisis situations.
The range of requirements for this position mean you're comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Good planning and organisational skills are key as you will need to communicate and build relationships directly with the schools you are working with and you will also need to be willing to travel throughout the city to support team business.
Accordingly, you'll need a full driving licence and your own car.
