Podiatry Lab Technician

Job summary

Based at Withington Community Hospital the post requires the individual to manufacture a range of insoles and orthotic devices including bespoke orthoses as prescribed by Podiatrists and to fit these devices should the need arise to patients / footwear.

The candidate would be responsible for the day to day running of the orthotics workshop/lab including stock ordering and data collection.

The post also means the individual will be responsible for maintaining equipment as per departmental policy and keep a clean, tidy and safe environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Plan daily activities so that the manufacturing of devices is done in timely ordered manner.
  • Prioritise tasks and manufacturing based on assessed need.
  • Record and review data and provides weekly details of activity e.g. patients seen, number and type of devices made and referral source.
  • To be involved in materials testing and development of orthoses.
  • To be responsible for own health and safety and that of others in the working environment within the health and safety recommendations applicable to the lab
  • To ensure maintenance and care of the equipment within the lab to the recommendations of both health and safety standards and the manufacturers recommendations.
  • To be responsible for safety of equipment and usage of supplies including COSHH regulations.
