Job summary
Within the Trafford Local Care Organisation (TLCO) an opportunity has arisen to recruit to a permanent full time HCPC registered Band 5 podiatrist. Our podiatry team is friendly and supportive and you will be able to develop your podiatry skills in this environment. The podiatry department is a busy one operating from 5 sites within community plus the patients own home so a car owner/driver is essential. The podiatry team supports the secondary diabetes and vascular clinics where you will have the opportunity to shadow the podiatrists working there.
There is a well-equipped podiatry laboratory at the local community hospital which can produce a range of devices and orthotics as well as a gait lab which includes a force plate for gait analysis,
The post holder will contribute to audit and service improvements

Main duties of the job
To work in clinics, health centres, residential and nursing homes, day centres, in the patient's own home and on occasion in the acute sector
To actively manage patient treatment programmes in line with care planning and discharge guidelines
With the ability to use the decision making process to identify when patients require the intervention of other professional and/or departmental specialist areas by following agreed referral pathways
To conduct nail surgery and undertake a minimum of 20 procedures under supervision if not already proficient in this procedure
To arrange for the provision of podiatry orthoses, pressure relieving insoles and shoe inserts where appropriate.
To be responsible for the day to day planning of personal workloads for clinics, for the completion of home visits and for visits to residential and nursing homes
To be flexible and provide cover for other podiatrists at short notice or during periods of absence
Complete all necessary administrative duties associated with the post.
