Job summary
The South Locality of MLCO has an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapy who is driven to work in stroke services in a community settings. This full time role sits in a specialist community stroke team supporting patients following discharge from hospital but also to live with life after stroke. These services deliver short and long term rehabilitation to patients both within their own homes and clinic settings. The teams support patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals and patients present with a range of symptoms. The successful candidate will be supported by highly skilled community stroke therapists that already sit within the services.
The Community Stroke Team consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Nurses, Psychologists and rehabilitation and nursing support staff so is a perfect environment to support patients and for clinicians to develop their clinical skills. The service is committed to staff development and the successful candidate would be supported to progress in a wide range of clinical and leadership skills as well as being given the opportunity to support in the development of more junior staff and students.
The service will also consider supporting a secondment if this would be of interest to anyone.
Main duties of the job
- To provide OT assessment and intervention to patients within the specialism of Stroke
- To work with patients and their families to develop evidence based rehabilitation programmes that support patients to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
- To work as part of an MDT to support patients rehabilitation agenda in the community.
- To support junior members of staff and students and to work alongside rehabilitation assistants, delegating work appropriately.
