Job summary
We are looking for a dedicated, dynamic and enthusiastic pharmacist, with an interest in education and training to join our team. This is an exciting time to get involved in pharmacist education and training, with the implementation of new GPhC standards for the initial education and training of pharmacists resulting in overhaul of both undergraduate placements and the foundation training year.
You will support the development of undergraduate pharmacists, training of pharmacy staff within the hospital and the provision of clinical pharmacy services. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your own skills and contribute to the development of the future pharmacy workforce. The post will support the expansion of clinical placements for pharmacy students from the University of Manchester, and oversee the training of foundation trainee pharmacists at the hospital. You will also form an integral part of the pharmacy team and the wider MDT, working together to provide high quality care to our patients.
You must be a qualified pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and have completed a post-graduate clinical diploma. You should hold a teaching qualification, or have significant previous teaching and clinical experience.
You will receive a comprehensive induction, regular 1:1's and annual appraisals to develop knowledge and skills where appropriate. There will be an opportunity to complete a teaching qualification if you do not already hold one.
Main duties of the job
You will be joining our established team of Clinical Tutors at MFT as well as our wider Education and Training Team. In addition you will take up an honorary appointment with the Division of Pharmacy and Optometry, University of Manchester, and will work in collaboration with staff at the university and the Clinical Tutors at Salford Royal Hospital. You will work within these teams to provide hospital placements to all years across the MPharm programme, including reviewing and updating the MPharm curriculum in line with new GPhC guidance, and assessing students' progress.
You will be actively involved in undertaking audit and practice research to further develop clinical teaching and support pharmacy undergraduate students with their research projects.
Within the pharmacy department you will take an active role in developing and delivering the department's Education and Training strategy, including overseeing the training programme for our trainee pharmacists and supporting the training of our rotational pharmacists. You will also support the delivery and development of a patient focused clinical pharmacy service, in addition to participating in the department's weekend working, late night and on call rotas.
