Job summary

The post holder will be expected support the Principal Radiographer in clinically leading this busy CT scanning service at the Manchester Royal Infirmary by contributing to the 7 day working pattern of a progressive CT department, supporting staff and driving clinical standards.

You will work closely with the CT Divisional Manager and CT Principal Radiographer at the Manchester Royal Infirmary to ensure excellent patient centred care to all of our patients.

You will be accountable for your own professional actions, and manage those of the experienced Band 6 CT Radiographic workforce and excellent Radiographic Department Assistants whilst being a professional role model for all of them.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop within the role both in the CT department but also the wider Radiology department.

The successful candidate is likely to be currently working solely in CT or rotating through CT spending at least 50% of their time there. This is the ideal role for you if you wish to take the next step on your CT career.

Main duties of the job

The Radiology Directorate is seeking to appoint an experienced CT Radiographer to the role of CT Deputy Lead Radiographer. The role will include clinically leading the CT Service at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and deputising for the CT Principal Radiographer. The work is incredibly varied and at times it will be challenging with competing workloads and you should have experience in the prioritisation of an acute workload. Whilst demanding the role can also be extremely rewarding making a noticeable difference to our patients' outcomes.

You will help drive clinical standards and service improvement in conjunction with the CT Principal Radiographer to provide a first rate safe CT service for all our patients.

It is expected that you'll have extensive CT experience, including evidence of teaching/ training, a wide range of scanning skills, supervising qualified radiographic staff and some protocol manipulation. You should be able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of CT scanning, supported by strong evidence of CPD.

Your role will support the CT Principal Radiographer in the introduction of two CT scanner replacements in 2024 and 2025 respectively. A new Trauma CT scanner will be installed into the new Trauma village sometime in 2026.

Above all the post holder will be expected to demonstrate compassionate and patient centered care and act as a professional role model and inspire others to deliver the same.
