Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 specialist nurse to work with the stoma care team. This well-established team is a community-based service within the Manchester Local Care Organisation.
We provide a high quality, specialist stoma care and in- reach services to Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (Wythenshawe Hospital), The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and South Manchester Community.
We are seeking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with recent and relevant experience in stoma care along with at least 3 years colorectal, urological, and gynaecological surgical experience.
You will be required to work independently and therefore need to be confident in your role as a lone worker as well as being able to interact within a wider multidisciplinary team.
Full UK Driving License and Car Owner Essential.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an integral part of the stoma care team and will be required to assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient focused care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. They will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process and will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills.
The post offers ideal opportunities for the successful applicant to enhance and expand their experience in stoma care and to make a significant difference to the experience of the patient undergoing such life changing surgery. The pathway involves pre and post operative counselling, support and education to patients and their families/carers.
