Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for 3 registered nurses to join the North West Paediatric Critical Care Surgery in Children and Long-Term Ventilation Operational Delivery Network (ODN) as a Band 6 Nurse Educator. There are 3 vacancy's available across the North West Region, one for each Integrated Care Board Region:

  • Cheshire and Mersey
  • Greater Manchester
  • Lancashire and South Cumbria

You will work with an established team that includes Clinical Leads, Lead Nurses, Nurse Educators, Data Analyst and you will be supported by Project Support Officers. The post holders will support the ODN teams visions to ensure that all children in the North West receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place.

The post holders will work under the guidance of the regional band 7 educator and will be responsible for ensuring that appropriate high-quality education and training is available as an integral part of the ODN. They will be responsible for providing educational support across their designated regional footprint, acting as a source of expertise, advice, and knowledge for healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will support the Nurse Educator for the North West Paediatric Critical Care, Surgery in Children, and Long-Term Ventilation Operational Delivery Network (PCC, SiC, LTV ODN) to implement the delivery of a coherent and effective education strategy across their region to ensure that nurses across their organisations can meet the needs of children and young people requiring level 1 / 2 paediatric critical care.

They will be responsible for ensuring high-quality evidenced based level 1 / 2 training and education is available across their regional footprint.

The role will support the PCC SiC LTV ODN in driving improvement of services through a quality education strategy.

The post holders main responsibilities are:

  • Identifying gaps in education across their region for level 1 / 2 PCC services
  • Develop a strategy to deliver education across their region working alongside local practice educators
  • Support the development of local clinical guidelines and develop strategies to ensure any training needs around implementation of the guideline are identified
  • Support the implementation of the PCC, SiC, LTV ODN guidelines within their locality trusts.
  • Feedback to the ODN on the education strategy and implementation across their region
  • Support the paediatric ward teams to ensure that staff are able to make maximum use of regional learning opportunities.
