Job summary
MFT's Employee Health and Wellbeing (EHW) service provides specialist advice and support regarding employee health issues to MFT employees and managers as well as to a variety of external clients. The EHW Service continues to provide an efficient, highly professional and cost-effective servicewhilst focusing activity on meeting the common challenges faced by a large Acute NHS Trust; we now look after over 28,000 employees making us the biggest Trust in the UK.
The EHW Service is a multidisciplinary team comprising of Senior Managers, Fitness for Work Advisers, Clinic Nurses, Psychotherapists, Consultant Psychiatrists, Physiotherapists and Public Health Specialists. Working together with our Service Support team, our priority is to create a dynamic approach to maximise employee health, wellbeing and productivity.
To support the team, we are recruitingan experienced Consultant Occupational Health Physician (part-time, 5PAs). Working alongside expert colleagues to deliver high-quality case-management and fitness for work advisory services, the post holder must have full registration with the General Medical Council and a license to practice medicine in the UK. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or already in possession of CESR in occupational medicine at date of interview. The post holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge and expertise in Occupational Health as a clinician, educator, advisor and advocate.
Main duties of the job
Working in close collaboration with the Assistant Director, Head of Fitness for Work Services and the wider EHW team, the role will support the development and implementation of strategic plans to further enhance the OH service. They will provide specialist expertise to support the delivery of innovative, progressive and value-adding services which are safe, efficient, effective and responsive to internal and external demands. The role will help to empower our managers and staff to have confidence and capability when considering the impact of health at work. Acting as a change agent and role model, to ensure good working relationships.
The role will actively contribute to growing the OH profession, raising the profile and impact of the Employee Health and Wellbeing Service, both internally and externally.As a key member of the senior leadership team this role provides a unique and exciting opportunity to assist in the on-going design and implementation of a highly professional and customer focused EHW service.
