Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new consultant post with sub-specialty interest in limb reconstruction within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide:
- Provide a quality trauma/frame service for the trust
- Provide a high quality elective limb reconstruction service for non-union, bone infection and deformity correction.
- Help reduce the referral to treatment waiting time for patients referred into the service
- By working effectively, improve the overall efficiency and financial viability of the department.
- Additionally enhance the existing trauma service at the Major Trauma Centre

Qualifications and training
Essential
- Full registration with the GMC (or eligible for full registration)
- MBChB or equivalent
- FRCS (Tr & Orth)
- Registered on the GMC Specialist Register (CCT)or Equivalent must be confirmed by GMC/PMETB in writing by the day of interview.
- Current ATLS certification
- Broad experience of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery with a specialist interest in Trauma surgery
- Post CCT fellowship in Limb Reconstruction Surgery (minimum 6 months) or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Higher Degree (MD/ChM)
- Further Post CCT experience in Trauma surgery/Limb reconstruction
