Job summary

We are seeking a visionary and strategic thinker to lead our Pay Services function, playing a pivotal role in the delivery of our pay strategy and overarching MFT People Plan. As the Head of Pay, you will be the key driving force behind the development and continuous improvement of our pay function, ensuring our approach aligns with our commitment to excellence and being an employer of choice. You will lead a dedicated team and collaborate with trust wide stakeholders to embed customer centric processes which ensure accuracy, compliance and efficiency.The ideal candidate will be an influential and forward-thinking leader, with a highly developed knowledge of pay and pensions. You will be experienced in leading a large-scale pay function, with a clear view of how processes, technology, governance and people need to interact to deliver a great service. You will be passionate about improvement and customer experience, inspiring team members and stakeholders in a clear vision for the service, with a clear delivery framework.It goes without saying you'll have a highly collaborative and cohesive style and be super skilful in influencing and negotiating, enabling change innovatively and effectively. Your work here will underpin our MFT People Plan, helping us attract and retain the best people to the right roles, in turn supporting the trust deliver exceptional healthcare to our community.

Main duties of the job

Bringing a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge, you will develop and oversee the implementation of an aligned Pay Services strategy that supports MFT's aspiration of being the Greater Manchester 'Employer of Choice'.

You will provide effective leadership to an informed and engaged Pay Services function, and design, develop and deliver innovative and best practice services.

Using your highly developed operational management skills you will fully embed performance and insight data within every level of payroll operations to drive performance, plan resources and underpin future service planning/strategy.

You will embed effective service governance, ensuring that appropriate policies and controls are in place to balance risk, ensure compliance and facilitate effective decision making.

You'll use your strong people management skills to develop and deliver a clear workforce plan, focusing on team culture, skill development, behaviours and succession planning.

Last, but by no means least, with the ability to adapt your style for any situation and work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of colleagues from different backgrounds, you will ensure that our pay strategy and function supports the Trust to look after and value our people.
