Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 experienced paediatric dietitians ( full/part-time) to join our team in Royal Manchester Children's Hospital - (RMCH).

RMCH dietetic service comprises 42 paediatric dietitians - all grades and 5 dietetic assistants . We work together to provide both secondary and tertiary dietetic services across all paediatric hospital sites in Manchester- North Manchester General , Wythenshawe and Royal Manchester Children's Hospitals .

We are a forward thinking dynamic department .You would be at the heart of many different development opportunities .

We employ clinical specialist and advanced practice dietitians as well as dietitians just embarking on a career in paediatric dietetics with a competency development frame work to support progression . We offer paediatric placements for pre-registration dietetic students and are providing supervision for a dietetic apprenticeship.

Our service is committed to supporting you to progress with your career - developing advanced clinical , leadership and management knowledge and skills. You will gain experience with line management , clinical supervision and service developments. We encourage you to learn from relevant internal and external training courses e.g. paediatric masters modules, leadership courses, conferences - presenting posters / publications.

Quality improvement initiatives together with patient experience project opportunities are an integral part of this post .

Main duties of the job

Post 1 ; Predominantly based at North Manchester Hospital where you would be responsible for IP and OP secondary dietetic caseload alongside a part-time band 7 .

Post 2 Predominantly based in RMCH ( Galaxy house ) with a primary focus on Tier 4 inpatients in our specialist 14 bedded regional eating disorder center alongside another band 7 dietitian .

For both posts we envisage 2 days a week would be based in RMCH with a clinical specialty designed to suit your preferences ,competencies , and our service need .

To be considered for either post you will possess a comprehensive range of skills, expertise and CPD in acute paediatric dietetics

  • Be competent working as an autonomous paediatric dietitian within professional practice guidelines and a structured supervision framework and deliver training to others.
  • Be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and able to provide strong clinical leadership , line manage and support junior staff and students,
  • have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with good time management to prioritize work and meet deadlines in an often fast-paced pressured environment.
