Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Band 6 physiotherapist (depending on experience) who is passionate about providing high quality care to children and their families to join our dynamic and committed out of hour's team.
The requirement is to work 1 weekend day per month to maintain your competencies (i.e. contracted 1.5 hours per week = 1x 6.5 hour shift per month).
Main duties of the job
The post holders will join the orthopaedic/major trauma weekend and bank holiday rota providing inpatient rehabilitation therapy. The caseload is varied and includes complex elective orthopaedic work such as multi-level surgery, spinal surgery, limb lengthening and complex poly trauma to which you will provide direct inpatient care.
Your role will be to progress patient's treatment plans and facilitate timely discharges.
The weekend service is provided every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.You will work alongside an occupational therapist.
Ideally you should have substantial and recent experience of working with children and young people in an acute or community setting. However significant experience of working in an acute adult orthopaedic inpatient setting would also be considered. You must be able to manage your own time effectively and be a flexible thinker with the ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
We will provide you with quarterly training/updates and support for CPD with annual appraisals and peer support to further develop your specialist clinical skills.
Initially you will need to be able to commit to a period of individualised day-time training to support and develop your competencies.
Please note respiratory competencies are NOT required for this post as there is an out of hours respiratory service.
