Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant based predominantly in Musculoskeletal Outpatients, to join our friendly and dynamic physiotherapy team. As part of your role you will also have opportunity to work with the acute inpatient therapy teams on the wards including some weekend working.

Working closely with the senior rehab assistant and qualified physiotherapists your duties will include assisting with exercise classes and Hydrotherapy Pool sessions, carrying out independent exercise programs under the supervision of a qualified physiotherapist, preparing and cleaning equipment, maintaining walking aid stock levels in A&E, ordering and managing deliveries for the department, assisting with mobility assessments in fracture clinic with a qualified physiotherapist.

As a well as being a great team player, you will need excellent communication skills alongside a friendly and caring manner and be able to demonstrate the ability to motivate patients to maximise their rehabilitation potential.

Previous experience of working within a hospital environment, along with skills in moving and handling patients would be advantageous. Candidates should have a willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Main duties of the job

Assisting the Qualified Physiotherapists in the delivery of high quality rehabilitation care and to help facilitate safe discharges from hospital.

Working directly with patients to carryout treatment programs as directed by the physiotherapists and reporting back. Assisting the physiotherapists with the more complex patients. Good moving and handling skills with patients.

Working with the wider multidisciplinary team, attending handovers and feeding information into and back from to the therapy team.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients, their families and the multidisciplinary team.

Be able to motivate and encourage patients with their therapy, and also have an empathetic nature.

Administrative tasks and equipment management. Including note writing, data collection for audit purposes, good general IT skills are required.
