Job summary

The Estates Technical Services Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operational aspects of Technical Services delivered within the partnership organisations and internal customers. The role focuses on ensuring services are patient-focused, safe, efficient, and effective, while complying with Trust safety standards and procedures. The Technician will provide comprehensive technical service to all wards and departments in a multidisciplined environment and oversee and monitor estates engineering technical services and systems. They will also install new or replacement machinery, equipment, and fixtures following applicable building codes and standards. The Technician will contribute to the development and implementation of maintenance strategies and planned maintenance programs.

Main duties of the job

In joining one of the largest Trusts in the NHS, you will be joining a expanding team that is continuing to develop, maintain, and implement resources across a site going through huge regenerative changes. You will have main duties that include (not exhaustive) responsible for maintaining and repairing all Medical Gas Piped systems, working under permit controlled by the Sites MGPS AP's. The successful candidate

  1. Obtain necessary training and qualifications for working on MGPS and be approved by the AP MGPS and management lead for MGPS.
  2. Comply with all Medical Gas standards (HTM 02-01) and policies, prioritizing safety, licenses, attendance, and training.
  3. Install new machinery, equipment, and fixtures following building codes and HTM's. Perform maintenance and repairs on various equipment using appropriate tools.
  4. Inspect, test, and maintain medical gas outlets, zone valves, alarms, sources, vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, and medical gas manifolds. Manage cylinder management.
  5. Evaluate repairs and submit relevant information to the appropriate personnel. Assist with troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment installation.
  6. Assist with decontamination equipment maintenance and testing, as appointed by the Appointed Person (Decontamination).
