Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the pharmacy team providing care to children on the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH) Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Paediatric High Dependency Unit (PHDU) Burns Unit and surgical wards. You will contribute to the continued delivery of a high-quality clinical pharmacy service with patients at its heart and help develop people and ways of working that are safe, effective, and progressive.
The post-holder will work as a part of a multidisciplinary team in a patient-facing role and will:
- be responsible for the provision of a high-quality and comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to paediatric critical care and surgery wards, promoting the best clinical and cost-effective use of medicines.
- support excellent clinical pharmaceutical care to our patients across RMCH
- build relationships and support clinicians with medicines optimisation and quality improvement
- become an expert in your area and contribute to national networks
- provide and engage in teaching opportunities
- mentor and guide junior pharmacy staff and inspire others to provide high-level paediatric pharmacy care
- line manage pharmacists within the Women's and Children's Pharmacy team
- support delivery of departmental audit programme
- be involved in the strategic planning and service development of pharmacy services within paediatric critical care and surgery wards
- deputise for the Lead Pharmacist for Paediatric Critical Care and Surgery
