Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and committed Housekeeper to join our team on Critical care at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Oxford Road Campus. You will be working 37.5 hours Monday to Friday.

This is an exciting and key role in which you will work closely with the nursing and domestic staff to ensure a safe, clean and organised clinical environment.

You will take responsibility for ensuring that all medical equipment is clean and well maintained. You will undertake the ordering of stores and equipment on the ward, ensuring that stock levels are maintained. You will be responsible for assisting with the patient experience tracker and obtaining feedback from patients and their families with the Friends and Family Test (FFT) questionnaires. You will assist the team in continuous quality improvement work. The role also entails working with patients reassuring them and answering any queries they may have.

You will have an organised and positive approach to ensure the tasks at hand are carried out in a timely, effective manner. Able to cope well under pressure, you will utilise excellent communication and team skills.

Main duties of the job

To assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards andinfection control practices in the critical care as appropriate.

Spot cleaning to ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

To ensure general and specialist equipment e.g. drip stands, infusionpumps, syringe drivers and patient shared equipment are cleaned asper the cleaning policy.

To ensure critical care is always safe and tidy, there must be ahigh standard of cleanliness maintained e.g. remove clutter, keep areatidy.

To maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of patient's bed areas

To identify any problems with cleanliness and liaise with the shift leader and Domestic Supervisor/Clinical Nurse Leader as appropriate.

Maintaining the Environment

To carry out monitoring of service delivery especially related tocleaning, linen and the environment at the agreed frequency.

Inform the Shift Leader/ Ward Manager of outcomes of monitoring and agree action plans ensuring action is taken.

To prepare bed areas following the discharge of patient, payingparticular attention to infection control policies and procedure.

To respect the privacy and dignity of patients and their relatives whilst carrying out housekeeping duties.

Ensure adequate stocks of linen are available and monitoring andreporting quality of linen provided.

To ensure that areas are clean and prepared in conjunction with thenursing team.
