Job summary
Applications are invited for a 10 PA consultant post in Special Care Dentistry. This new role is an exciting opportunity to help shape the development of Special Care Dentistry Services across Manchester. Clinical duties include work within the Dental Hospital and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Leadership, and delivery of teaching in Special Care Dentistry to undergraduate dental students of the University of Manchester, School of Dentistry will be required. Experience in the management of Special Care Dentistry patients using local anaesthesia, inhalation sedation and intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia is essential.

Essential
- BDS or equivalent and eligible for full GDC registration
- On the specialist list in Special Care Dentistry, or a consultant in Special Care Dentistry
- Experience/training such that the applicant has reached a standard equivalent to that expected after three years of specialist training.
- Relevant additional NHS experience in Special Care Dentistry following the attainment of the above standard
- Experience of dental treatment under general anaesthesia, and relative analgesia
- Recent and current experience in the dental management of phobic patients with intravenous sedation using Midazolam

- One or more of relevant postgraduate qualifications related to Special Care Dentistry such as: MSND RCS (Ed) DSCD (Eng)
