Main duties of the job

We are looking for a enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Support Worker to work with the HIV team to expand our 'opt-out' testing in A&E departments. The role will consist of facilitating testing in line with national guidelines.

This opportunity is open to applicants who ideally have experience or a keen interest in working in HIV, are passionate about delivering excellent care and are confident with IT systems. You would need to be flexible, able to use your own initiative, work with a wide range of health professionals and be sensitive to the needs of patients and families.

Main duties

To facilitate opt out HIV testing at Salford Royal A&E department

Ensure test results are acted upon in a timely manner including ensuring all positive results are communicated to the HIV team and engaging patients in appropriate follow up care.

Maintain testing database and contributing to the multidispilanry team discussions

Venepuncture including complex venepuncture (neck bloods)

Contributing to the senior support work within the HIV team

  • Worked in a healthcare environment

  • Health Related qualification, recent and relevant in service training
  • Foundation degree in Health and Social Care and relevant clinical experience
