Our pharmacy departments are committed to providing an innovative service that focuses on patient care and experience, and we're currently hiring enthusiastic Pharmacy Dispensing Assistants to join us. This is an ideal opportunity for you to start your career in Pharmacy based at North Manchester General Hospital , developing your knowledge and experience in our dynamic and diverse team.

Main duties of the job

This is a great role to start your career as a Pharmacy Assistant, as you'll receive all the training and support you need to be your best. You'll support Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians by providing supervised pharmacy services, including dispensing of medicines, and replenishing and maintaining ward stocks and patients' own medicines.

Working under supervision at all times, you'll also work on the inpatient/outpatient hatch receiving prescriptions, deal with routine enquiries from patients and hospital staff, maintain drug stocks, assemble prescriptions, and check and receive deliveries using Pharmacy systems. The department rota, in which you'll participate, will include late nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Essential

  • IT literate with a basic understanding of software eg Microsoft office, emails etc
  • An understanding of the role of a Pharmacy Assistant

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Pharmacy Software EMIS, JAC
  • Experience of using automated dispensing systems

  • GCSE'S or equivalent (C or above) in Maths and English
