Job summary

The role of Food Safety and Quality Assurance manager will be responsible for developing and managing the Food Safety Management System for catering and hospitality food services across all sites at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role are:

  1. Designated management representative responsible for the annual review and approval of HACCP document providing specialist advice and support to catering departments as required.

  1. To lead in the verification & validation of all documentation, records and use of data used within Catering departments across the Trust.

  1. Maintain and co-ordinate the Trust's food safety programme to ensure statutory compliance is achieved to the prescribed legal requirements in the food industry, e.g. ensuring the food is safe legal, allergens are identified and communicated, clearly labelled and regularly updated on patient and restaurant menus and associated systems.

  1. Promote awareness of food safety standards, regulatory and statutory.

  1. To design and complete food supplier audits against the quality standards and implemented systems e.g. HACCP, identifying corrective actions required, escalating major corrective actions and implementing an improvement plan that resolves corrective actions raised

  1. Liaise with Local Authority Inspectors and Enforcement Officials as and when required. Respond to any questions asked and resolve any issues raised.
