Job summary

Manchester Royal Eye Hospital is the second biggest Ophthalmic tertiary unit in the UK. It serves a population of Manchester the North West and beyond. It provides a comprehensive ophthalmic care provision service in all aspects of ophthalmology, uitlising a multi disciplinary approach to care of the highest quality.

The University Dental Hospital of Manchester is one of the major teaching hospitals in the UK, undertaking the training of postgraduate and undergraduate dental students, student dental nurses and hygienist therapists. In all, a dental team of around 300 staff work in the hospital.

Main duties of the job

  1. Handle telephone calls coming through to the Clinical Effectiveness (CE) team and manage them appropriately taking messages where necessary.
  2. Format letters, reports, presentations and charts to a high standard as required.
  3. Fully administrate meetings to a high and consistent standard as requested (including full minute taking and transcribing, producing agendas, paper collation and circulation and follow up of actions).
  4. Manage internal and external events / meetings such as away days and workshops including, sourcing and booking venues, arranging catering, arranging external speakers and ensuring that the Directors supported are well prepared in advance. Ensure that in advance of these meetings relevant attendees are in receipt of necessary paperwork and information.
  5. Support the administration of clinical governance processes and patient safety monitoring within MREH and UDHM.
  6. Provide a comprehensive and high-quality administrative service, including the typing of letters / memos / reports / minute / job descriptions, photocopying, etc.
  7. Manage databases and other resources with an advanced level use of IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Teams and Ulysses.
  8. Manage all messages for the CE Team you support prioritising these appropriately and where possible resolving any queries.
