Job summary
The post holders will assist the Group Fire Safety Manager in all fire safety matters across the Trust (including community properties). They will be responsible for overseeing fire safety fire stopping projects including new build, alterations, extension and renovation works and supporting the day-to-day supervision of the fire safety teams located across the Trust. They will also provide support to the Group Fire Safety Manager in relation to managing fire stopping activities across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Assisting the Group Fire Safety Managers when required and dealing with all fire stopping matters across the Trust. Working alongside other Senior Fire Safety Officers and reporting to the Group Fire Safety Manager on all fire stopping related matters.
Preparing detailed reports on fire stopping surveys, remedial works and PPM's to support the Trust fire stopping programme.
Assessing and commenting on all fire safety proposals across the Trust and ensuring compliance with appropriate fire stopping standards i.e.HTM, HBN and ADB.
Ensuring contractors manage all construction sites as per Trust Protocols and procedures and ensuring that there are regular inspections of work sites to confirm that fire safety is being maintained
Keeping abreast of changes in fire safety legislation and guidance and bringing these to the attention of the Trust's Management.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Science or engineering based education to degree level or equivalent or practical experience of fire safety in a hospital environment at senior level.
- Membership of a professional organisation (i.e. Institute of Fire Engineers IFE; Institute of Fire Prevention Officers IFPO).
- Health & Safety qualified (ie NEBOSH general certificate).
Desirable
- Attendance at SFPO course or equivalent.
- Qualified Fire Brigade inspecting Officer.
- Management qualification (CMS or equivalent).
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Significant experience working at a Management level within Facilities Management Environment
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplined Facilities management team
- Experienced in working with colleagues from Hard FM and clinical services.
- Thorough knowledge of fire safety legislation, in particular RRO and HTM guidance documents, acquired through a degree in fire engineering or attendance at equivalent courses (SFPO or equivalent).
