Job summary
Join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) as an Allied Health Professional (AHP) Stroke Consultant where we're proud to empower our patients to achieve their goals and to enjoy life to the full.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Speech and Language Therapist to join the Stroke Multi-Disciplinary Team at MFT in the clinical academic role of Allied Health Professional Stroke Consultant. You will work within the AHP Division, across the 2 current Stroke Units at Trafford and Manchester Royal Infirmary and play a key role in the delivery of the MFT Stroke service model through expert clinical practice.
And, as we continually strive to improve services for our patients, families, and our teams too, you'll use the biggest digital EPR system of its kind; 'Hive' to drive a culture of exciting innovation.
If you're dedicated to providing the best possible care for Stroke patients across Greater Manchester and beyond, with the skills, knowledge and values that match ours, then this could be the opportunity for you.
Main duties of the job
Research and service innovation will be a significant part of this role. If you don't already hold a Doctorate qualification, you will be supported to work toward this and expected to undertake research in an area related to the speciality of Stroke. You will provide clinical leadership, integrating research evidence into AHP practice and contribute to and lead research in your field.
There is an expectation that 50% of your portfolio will be spent in clinical practice, having clinical responsibility for a defined cohort of patients. You'll be pivotal in identifying and leading service improvement, enhancing performance against Stroke national targets whilst driving best practice, leading the provision and development of expert innovative and evidence-based care at a clinical and strategic level. You will also act as an expert resource providing education and training to the multi-professional team.
You will be expected to work in collaboration with the Greater Manchester Neurorehabilitation and Integrated Stroke Delivery Network (GMNISDN) and speciality leads in Greater Manchester (GM), contributing to the strategic direction of the regional Stroke service as well as the MFT service. This will be an opportunity to foster strong working relationships with colleagues in the hyper acute centres as well as community Stroke services across GM.
