This is a brand new role supporting our newly established GA/Propofol lists here at Manchester Royal Infirmary Endoscopy Unit. This is a really exciting time to join a fantastic and enthusiastic team who always strive to achieve excellence The Endoscopy Unit here at Manchester Royal Infirmary of the largest tertiary referral centres in the North West and we are excited to be extending our service to cover 7 days.With access to 5 procedure rooms here on the MRI Central site, our procedures are varied and diverse and include diagnostics and major therapeutics, gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy , colonoscopy, PEG insertion, bronchoscopy, double balloon enteroscopy, endoscopic ultrasound & ultrasound guided therapy, ERCP & spyglass/HALO radiofrequency ablation. What's more, we also host the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and Bowel Scope Service so they're a real range of specialisms to develop your skills and experience.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for ensuring immediate care to relevant client group and will work primarily within the Endoscopy Unit based at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care for these patients supporting and guiding junior staff in the process.
The postholder will be responsible for assisting theanaesthetist on the Endoscopy GA/Propofol lists both in the Endoscopy Unit and in MRI Theatres as required. The postholder will be trained to assist in all Endoscopy procedures within the unit. The postholder will work with the senior team to ensure ongoing IQP work in the Units Recovery areas taking part in audits. The post holder will act as a positive rolemodel within the department for staff, patients and carers.
Please note that this position will be 37.5 hours over the course of 7 days, as the Endoscopy service will be open Monday - Sunday 08:00 - 19:30.
