Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Research Fellow in Transplantation. This post offers an exciting opportunity to pursue high quality and clinically important research in the field of transplantation with the aim of achieving a higher degree. The post offers the opportunity to work alongside a successful research team with an excellent track record in high quality and innovative research in the field of transplantation.

Candidates that are non-GMC registered at the point of application will be considered for this position, under the Trusts International Fellowship Scheme (please note, there is a £500 admin charge for this scheme). Main duties of the job

This is a replacement post intended for a surgical trainee to spend a period of time in research to obtain an MD or a PhD, while at the same time supporting the on call commitment of the transplant service. It is envisaged that the appointee will embark on a research project associated with pancreatic or renal transplantation, Encapsulating Peritoneal Sclerosis or Abdominal Wall Reconstruction, which are key programmes offered by the Manchester Transplant Unit.

There is a large team to support research activities coupled with one of the largest clinical transplant programmes in Europe in renal and pancreatic transplantation and Encapsulating Peritoneal Sclerosis. The research project will be designed to extend one of a number of existing innovative research projects within the department.
