Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Endoscopy Unit at Manchester Royal Infirmary for an Endoscopy Sister/Charge Nurse. You should be a dynamic and experienced nurse with some management and leadership experience.
As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will be responsible for co-ordinating on a day to day basis, assist in endoscopy procedures, planning, problem solving, using electronic rostering and staff allocations. As a senior nurse you will be able to disseminate your knowledge and skills to the wider endoscopy workforce helping to maintain high standards of nursing care for our patients. Applications are invited from motivated and innovative nurses keen to be part of the development of our Endoscopy service.
With access to 5 procedure rooms including afluoroscopy room, our procedures are varied and diverse and include diagnostics and therapeutics in gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, PEG insertion, ERCP/Spyglass, EBUS, HALO, Double Balloon Enteroscopy, EUS/FNA and BRAVO. We also host the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme so there is a real range of specialisms to develop your skills and experience.
We are excited to be increasing activity by moving to a 7 day service improving patient access and experience.
Main duties of the job
The Endoscopy Unit at Manchester Royal Infirmary have an exiting opportunity for a dynamic and proactive leader to join us as an Operational Endoscopy Sister/Charge Nurse.
Our procedures are varied and diverse and include diagnostics, therapeutics and surveillance, gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, PEG insertion, bronchoscopy / EBUS, EUS/FNA, ERCP & Spyglass, HALO and DBE delivering high quality care to our patients.
We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in education and experience in gastroenterology/endoscopy to work with our staff to develop their skills and knowledge. The post holder will have proven leadership and management skills and experience.
Your remit will be to support staff within the Endoscopy unit but you will also have close working relationships with the wider team and Endoscopy Clinical Educators.
Endoscopy experience is not required as training will be provided. Although not essential a teaching qualification is desirable and a proven record of formal or informal training is required.
The post holder will work primarily in the Endoscopy Units at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Withington Community Hospital and they will be expected to cover at TGH Endoscopy when required. MFT Endoscopy at both Manchester Royal Infirmary and Trafford General Hospital operate a 7-day service with core hours between 8am - 7:30pm.
