Job summary
To provide a high quality specialist clinical psychology service to patients open to Hampshire At Risk Mental State (ARMS) team. ARMS is integrated within the HIOW EIP Service. The post holder will be required to embed new ways of working and a trauma informed approach with the view to continued service development and evaluation. As a senior clinician, the post-holder will:
Ensure the systematic provision and governance of high-quality specialist psychological interventions for individuals and their families/ carers/support networks accessing the ARMS team.
Provide psychological assessment and therapy to people referred to ARMS. The post holder will provide specialist treatment for complex cases and plan and prioritise their own clinical workload.
Provide specialist clinical supervision and support to psychological therapists and other members of the clinical team who provide psychologically based care and treatment within this setting.
Ensure systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of all other practitioners within ARMS, for which the post holder has designated professional responsibility. This will include a role in effective recruitment, professional appraisal, and the identification of CPD needs.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for a number of areas each of which are outlined below. The post holders main focus is on the clinical delivery of ARMS across Hampshire, including provision of clinical supervision to ARMS practitioners. A caseload of patients will be maintained.
To provide specialist psychological assessments of patients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients, family members and others involved in the patients care.
When appropriate identify repeating patterns of crisis and advise ways of breaking the cycle, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the individuals presenting and underlying problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings
To be responsible for implementing a range of highly specialised psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups. This will be employed both within and across teams, individually and in synthesis. The post-holder will adjust and refine psychological formulations, drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.

Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical(or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) or counselling psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists or equivalent experience.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist .
- Or
- Accreditation as a therapist with BABCP, ACAT, UKCP or similar body
- Post-qualification training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
Desirable
