Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Children's Speech and Language Therapist to join our team on the Isle of Wight.
This role is a permanent part time position of 25 hours per week.
The post holder is responsible for providing high quality, evidenced-based assessment, treatment and management for children with communication difficulties within a community setting.
The post holder will work closely with our multidisciplinary team, children's services, preschools and schools. This can involve attending case conferences, joint appointments and providing education and training as required.
Main duties of the job
To work as a Children's Speech and Language Therapist in a range of community settings e.g. homes, school settings, early years settings, family centres.
To work as an autonomous practitioner providing assessment, diagnosis and management of children and young people with communication difficulties, within the context of the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service.
To work collaboratively with colleagues ensuring multidisciplinary care planning and intervention.
To contribute to the process of assessment and review for Education Health Care Plans (EHCP) providing reports and attending professional meetings as required.
To deliver effective training programmes to parents/carers and Education, Health and Social Care colleagues.
To contribute to supervision and support of Speech and Language Therapy Assistants and students.
To work in collaboration with your colleagues to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare.
To maintain local and national standards with regards to maintaining record keeping, activity data, and caseload management.
To attend team meetings and contribute to the department CPD schedule.
To contribute to service delivery planning, service evaluations, audits and projects.
To ensure that the children and their families are involved in the planning and prioritisation of their care plans wherever possible.
Demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures (TOMS).
