Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Business Support Manager to support the Mental Health Acute & Crisis Services covering maternity leave for 14 months.

As the Business Support Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of service objectives for a portfolio of services led by Service Managers and Clinical Matrons within the Isle of Wight Division.

You will support Service Managers, the Administration and Business Support Divisional Manager on business objectives - performance, governance, workforce, service improvement, information management, business continuity, communications, finance and risk.

Be responsible for the strategic development, implementation and management of administrative policies and procedures, working autonomously and using own initiative.

Seek improvement, where opportunities exist, within services and across the portfolio, providing co-ordination of activities to support change.

Act on behalf of the patient in enabling the Trust to be efficient and a provider of high-quality care.

Main duties of the job

Key duties include:

  • Line management for senior administrative staff within the portfolio of services, including the supervision, recruitment, appraisals, performance issues and initial stages of grievance and disciplinary procedures.
  • Responsible for assisting with the co-ordination of all aspects of clinical staffing across the portfolio on a day-to-day basis.
  • Supporting the effective rostering of clinical staff on HR systems in accordance with divisional or trust-wide policy.
  • Ensure that staff resources are distributed according to need and priority, particularly when organising cover for sickness/absence.
  • Oversee clinic management and utilisation for the services.
  • Provide support with appropriate service improvement projects through stages of designing, planning and implementation. Lead on appropriate tasks to help deliver project plans to timescales.
  • Establish systems and processes to report and monitor performance for key targets (local and national) and operational objectives. Contribute to seeking solutions to problems where performance is not achieved, with the support of clinical/operational colleagues/corporate support services.
