Job summary

The CAMHs team is part of a supportive and innovative child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) in Southampton. The aim of this service is to support a child/young person in continuing with their mental health recovery at home with their families with the right support and most importantly the least restrictive.

This role within SpCAMHS is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 nurse to gain experience across the Specialist CAMHS team.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a highly skilled and specialist intervention using techniques and knowledge gained through experience, self-development, and evidence-based practice. They will ensure that a high quality, timely, accessible, and evidence-based service is available to all service users who need it throughout the team. Alongside the clinical aspect of the role the post holder will be involved in developing and sustaining partnership working with individuals, groups, communities and agencies and contributing to service development as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

All young people who are accepted to the service will follow a structured Programme, in line with relevant NICE guidelines. Interventions are delivered by a multi-disciplinary clinical team comprising of: Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Nurses, Social Worker, Dietitian, Family Therapist, Assistant Psychologists and Managerial Support.

We are looking for an exceptional experienced practitioner with the right attitude, skills and knowledge, who share our passion to deliver the best quality care experience for children and their families. The post should appeal to enthusiastic and highly motivated candidates who are passionate about getting the journey right for our children, young people and families, so that the right intervention, at the right time for the right child is embedded. Candidates should have a sound working knowledge of NHS and voluntary mental health services as well as enhanced knowledge and skills in the screening, assessment and treatment of children with complex needs.
