We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join our inpatient service at Gosport War Memorial Hospital. You will be based primarily on Rose Ward, a 14-bed functional inpatient unit, with occasional cross-cover for Poppy Ward, which supports patients with advanced dementia. Our services are newly refurbished and embedded within a thriving healthcare community that includes close partnerships with physical health services, community teams, and voluntary sector organisations.

Main duties of the job
As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide clinical leadership and Responsible Clinician input for patients admitted to Rose Ward, working with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based, and person-centred care. You will manage a small but complex caseload, ensuring timely assessments, effective treatment plans, and robust risk management, while promoting recovery and independence.
Your role will include supervising and supporting Resident and Specialty Doctors, contributing to teaching programmes, and taking an active role in quality improvement, service development, and clinical governance. You will collaborate closely with inpatient and community teams, partner organisations, and carers to deliver seamless care across pathways.
On-call participation is shared fairly across the network, and flexibility in job planning is available to support your career ambitions, whether in education, research, or leadership. In addition, you will contribute to shaping services locally and strategically, ensuring high standards of patient care and supporting the Trust's commitment to compassionate, high-quality healthcare.*At least 2.5 SPAs Pro-rata
